On the 21st of June 2007 the first tree was felled on the A.C. MacLaren Plantation at Healesville. From this historic event cricket bats carrying resilient qualities have been produced under Willow Blue's sustainable forest management and compliance principles.

This renewable resource is now of environmental and socio-economic significance.

On the 13th of October 2007 at the Picturesque Toolangi Cricket Ground on the Great Dividing Range (home of C.J. Dennis), Ian Callen used the first cricket bat made from a tree felled from the A.C. MacLaren Plantation and scored 67 runs and commented that the bat performed as well as any he had used during his career as a professional cricketer.

Historic Issue

To celebrate the re-birth of Cricket Forestry in Australia we are releasing this historically unique period piece (individually sculptured 18th century cricket bat) from cricket bat willow grown from the original progeny the England Test Captain A.C. MacLaren sent to Australia in 1902. The piece includes authentic A.C. MacLaren thoughts and views on the game of cricket as it was in the late 19th century and which upon reflection… remain in vogue today.
